today was the day. time for a backyard pool. the kiddos have been asking to go to the 'frog pool' for a couple of weeks, but it doesn't open for a bit yet. darci reminded me this afternoon that the pool jason was inflating was pool #3 since the beginning of last summer. our pools have never really been used (mainly because of the aforementioned frog pool), but this one will be different. this pool has had more use in it's first afternoon of operation that the others combined.

benjamin was quite enthusiastic from start to finish!
the water was COLD. they both had a lot of laughs filling the pool up. benjamin was in charge of the hose and lauren didn't seem to mind.
once filled, lauren stayed in the pool maybe a minute before she announced it was too cold. and really, it was. as you can see in the background, benjamin didn't seem to mind. he was in there for quite awhile and immensely happy! lauren found a caterpillar on this soccer ball...darci saved the little guy from lauren's tweezer-like fingers.
so lauren spent the rest of the time fetching balls and other pool gear for ben, who himself played and gave orders to her while randomly taking nibbles of his chicken nuggets.
