benjamin can be THE sweetest boy on earth...sometimes. when he's not, he has a few quirks that tend to be a bit destructive. a week or so ago we said good-bye to 'blue music'. once his most used gadget (couldn't go anywhere without blue music), one night he decided to throw it into the bathtub. that was the end. monday afternoon right before naptime i heard the door between our dining room and hallway (which leads to our rooms and upstairs) slam shut. ben likes to shut doors with impact. i couldn't open it. i had the hinges off, the doorknob off, various tools wedged into the crack to try to pry the door loose, the hinges on, the doorknob back on....nothing would budge this door. i was panicked!!! it was naptime afterall! i really don't think i would have been in such a frantic state if it hadn't involved naptime. while i am crazily at work, benjamin starts commentating with 'uh-oh...it's broken'. if you don't repeat what he says he will continue to say it. so i heard 'uh-oh...it's broken' until i finally gave in and repeated. no naps, the door wasn't going to be cooperative. once jason was finally home he tried all of the same tactics i had without success. jason wanted to break the door down. it was now approaching bathtime and bedtime...thankfully our neighbor rick (our fence and tiling guy) came over and after 15 minutes with various tools he got the door off. it was broken, ben was right. no more door to our hallway. goodbyes.

I am sure it will be one of those memories you will laugh about...someday, right?
I think an appropriate punishment would involve Ben having to take a nap with the door on top of him.
